What are the three greatest attributes in a leader?

  1. Compassion
  2. Integrity
  3. Empowerment

What’s your leadership mission statement?
My leadership motivates and empowers others to exceed goals, perform beyond standards, and embrace a culture of quality measurement and improvement.

What leader has influenced you? Why?

Prophet Muhammad has been my biggest influence. He is the only man who has successfully preached, practiced, and established justice and equality in all realms of life. He was a true leader with the abilities to move forward looking past color, position, and power.

What is your greatest challenge as a leader and how are you overcoming it?
My greatest challenge as a leader has been managing change. Jackson is a world-class organization because of its ability to constantly develop, test, and implement changes. These changes have led to improved patient care and a high degree of patient satisfaction. I have overcome this challenge by motivating and reminding team members of Jackson's mission, vision, and values, and how change can lead to positive outcomes. As a leader, I use our resources to identify super users, facilitate refresher trainings, and most importantly, monitor quality and performance measures for improvement and sustainability.

What has been your greatest accomplishment as a leader?
My team and I proudly serve more than 4,000 patients in the Miami-Dade correctional system. I have helped bridge gaps between Corrections Health Services and the county's corrections and rehabilitation teams, which has led to improved patient care and satisfaction.

What advice would you give someone aspiring to become a leader?
My advice is be a people's leader; inspire team members to reach higher, dream bigger, and achieve greater. Helping others succeed is the biggest success!
